So I applied for a job at school a week or so ago and have yet to hear back, even though they said they really needed student tutors. :| However, I still need money--Color Theory is an expensive class (e.g. gouache paints are frikkin' expensive, man), but I wanted to find a way to make commissions super-duper affordable. - Free Macayo's at school today. Mmmm they make the best chimichongas. And they had red taquitos, which were delish.

- Image Manipulation class is fun! Plus it's probably one of my most practical classes yet. I'm learning how to make those book covers you see on a lot of fantasy/YA novels these days, those hodge-podge compositions of little images + texture abuse. 8D

- Got a lot of compliments on my casual!Canada cosplay. Made me feel good. :) Still gotta get a proper parka for his military outfit, and a suitable pair of goggles, but PCC's not until May so I have time.

- Came across a Merlin/Hetalia crossover fic this afternoon! <3 http://community.livejournal.com/intentationem/112364.html So, so good. A must-read if you are a fan of both series, or even just one.

- Ordered a new book, For Want of a Nail by Robert Sobel. If you don't know this about me, I'm something of a huge fan of the American Revolution. Always have been, for some reason. (Jeff Shaara's books are my favorite) FWoaN is an AU of what could have transpired had the British won at Saratoga. Apparently Sobel rewrites history all the way up until the 20th century? (don't quote me on this, though) so it looks to be very interesting.

Finally got around to uploading + gathering pics, so here's the obligatory post-convention post!

Yesterday I was wearing a T-shirt and capri's; today I was forced to wear pants, a long-sleeved shirt with a shirt on top of that, and a jacket. It was what, in the 90s yesterday? And today it had to be in the early 60s. Still as sunny as ever. BUT. I feel as though we skipped autumn and went straight to winter. :0 Arizona has such moody weather patterns. (This means wearing shorts at Saboten is no longer an option--I don't want my legs to freeze off! XD)

Not that I'm complaining, mind. I LOVE wearing long sleeves and I find winter clothing much more comfortable. Also it fees like forever since I could wear them. (well, since March or April.)

...and midterms next week already, holy crap.

Question:

For Canada/Matthew's casual outfit, is he wearing shorts or pants? And if pants, khakis or jeans? I've seen all three. In hindsight, yes wearing a hoodie with shorts is kind of odd but whatever, I just want to get it right.
It really doesn't matter to me, I suppose. October has nice weather so wearing shorts won't be a problem (might be a little nippy but definitely bearable).

You guys ever seen that movie Cats and Dogs? Had Jeff Goldblum, Tobey Maguire('s voice), couple of other famous peeps. Oh man, that is one of my favorite movies. Such great lines.

I'm not saying that It Started With a Kiss and They Kiss Again are necessarily bad dramas. There are enough crazy-funny moments and cute-fluffy moments in this series to provide a worthwhile viewing experience, if that's what you like--plus the acting is very, very good for an idol drama. It's not as glittery and exaggerated as a lot of other dramas I've watched. What I am saying is that I'm getting sick of seeing these types of characters. :|

So a friend lent me her copy of Stephanie Meyer's The Host recently. I was expecting Twilight with a different setting and different characters, but it really was not all that bad. In fact, I'm almost offended by how terrible her writing style was in Twilight because she seems to have magically improved in The Host. The purple prose disappeared, for the most part, and her characters this time around were likeable AND believable, for the most part. Except for the main character. I'm not quite sure what her problem is, but so far, every female protagonist has been increasingly annoying and spineless. That's okay because I always liked the secondary characters better. The plotline was nothing TOO original, but not so cliche and bland that you got bored. I actually enjoyed reading it for what it was. :)

I kind of don't write fanfiction anymore, but while watching the Taiwanese drama Bull Fighting some time ago, I really empathized with one of the main characters. To a point where I was filled with so much emotion I couldn't stand just to let it go. Zi Cong needs more lovin'. So basically the following is some of the things I think Jin Zi Cong must have been thinking/feeling at various points during the series. Also this was practice in writing in present tense, something I normally don't do.

EDIT:// Maybe I can justify this by buying the artbook and not buying any merchandise at Saboten-Con, which is three weeks away. It's a thought.

Final Fantasy XIII's barely out and there's a Final Fantasy XIV already. Don't know much about it, except that it looks FRICKIN' AWESOME. So very pretty~

Yesterday, I experienced my first life drawing class.

It was very...interesting. Human Anatomy last year made me no stranger to all the finer details of the human body, what with all those diagrams and all, but it's much different seeing the actual thing laid bare in front of you. I'm sure I must have been blushing furiously the first time our model took off his bathrobe. But I quickly fell into that objective, analytical mode that the class requires, where the human body is just that, the human body, and all you need to do is draw it--draw what you see, and don't think about what it is.
